Accessibility Statement

Last reviewed: January 2025

Harit Pahal is committed to ensuring our platform is accessible to as many people as possible — regardless of disability, device, or circumstance. We aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA across all pages.

This statement covers the Harit Pahal website at haritpahal.org. We review accessibility continuously and welcome feedback from users who encounter barriers.

What we have implemented

Keyboard Navigation

All interactive elements — buttons, links, form fields — are fully reachable and operable via keyboard alone.

Screen Reader Support

We use semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and descriptive alt text to ensure meaningful content is conveyed to screen readers.

Colour Contrast

Our design system maintains a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for body text and 3:1 for large text, following WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines.

Focus Indicators

All interactive elements display visible focus rings when navigated via keyboard, ensuring clear orientation at all times.

Responsive Design

The platform is fully usable across device sizes and supports text resizing up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.

Form Accessibility

All form inputs are paired with visible labels. Error messages are descriptive and associated with the relevant field.

Known limitations

We are actively working to improve the following areas:

  • The interactive map on the Planting Regions page has limited screen reader support. A text-based region selector is being developed as an alternative.
  • Some animated components may cause discomfort for users with vestibular disorders. We are implementing a "reduce motion" preference check.
  • Some third-party images are served without alt text. We are working to ensure all content images have meaningful descriptions.

Feedback & Contact

If you experience any accessibility barriers on our platform, please let us know. We aim to respond to accessibility feedback within 5 working days.
